The HPV test is a screening test for cervical cancer, but it does not tell you if you have cancer. Instead, the test detects the presence of HPV, the virus that causes cervical cancer, in your system. Certain types of HPV, including types 16 and 18, increase the risk of cervical cancer. 6 types of cancer are due to the Human papillomavirus. This is a genital infection and causes cervical cancer, vaginal cancer, Vulva cancer, anal cancer, penile cancer in males, and oral cancer. Vaccines against this virus are available at our clinic. 3 doses give you protection against this cancer.
