The uterus and ovaries are the organs necessary for conception and monthly periods. Hysterectomy is the removal of the uterus with or without the removal of ovaries and Fallopian tubes depending on the indication of surgery. The most common indication of hysterectomy is irregular heavy bleeding not responding to medication and fibroid. The uterus can be removed either by open surgery or by laparoscopy. After the removal of the uterus patients will not have periods and not be able to conceive.
